CZ Says Pakistan Could Become a Global Crypto Leader by 2030

CZ praised the country’s leadership for moving quickly to formalize its crypto ecosystem, including new regulatory frameworks, exchange approvals, and exploration of Bitcoin reserves and asset tokenization. Zhao also mentioned blockchain’s low barriers to entry for entrepreneurs and pointed out that continued investment in education and innovation will be key to turning Pakistan’s crypto momentum into long-term economic growth. Pakistan Could Lead the Crypto World Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao believes Pakistan could become one of the world’s leading crypto hubs by 2030 if it maintains its current pace of regulation and adoption. Speaking in an interview with Pakistan Crypto Council CEO Bilal bin Saqib, Zhao praised the country’s leadership for recognizing strong demand for digital assets among its young, tech-savvy population and for moving quickly on policy decisions. Zhao said that Pakistan’s ability to act decisively sets it apart from many larger jurisdictions, and argued that speed and clarity in regulation are critical advantages in the global crypto race. He noted that if the country sustains this momentum over the next five years, it could turn itself into one of the top crypto leaders worldwide. Pakistan has already taken several steps this year to formalize its digital asset ecosystem, including the creation of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, allowing exchanges like Binance and HTX to operate locally, establishing a Bitcoin reserve, and exploring real-world asset tokenization to attract foreign capital and improve market liquidity. On tokenization, Zhao was particularly bullish by arguing that tokenizing Pakistan’s stock market could open domestic equities to global investors. He said tokenized stocks will allow international participants to gain direct exposure to Pakistani companies, effectively channeling foreign investment into the local economy. Zhao added that countries that move first on tokenization are likely to benefit the most. Zhao also pointed out some opportunities for individuals and small businesses, and suggested that blockchain offers a lower barrier to entry compared to traditional banking or artificial intelligence. He said starting a bank or an AI company typically requires a lot of capital, infrastructure, and data, while blockchain-based projects are largely virtual and more accessible to young entrepreneurs. According to Zhao, this openness makes crypto one of the most attractive spaces for innovation, as participation is not limited by gatekeepers. At the same time, he explained that long-term success will depend on education and ecosystem support. Zhao said Pakistan will need more university programs, incubators, and training initiatives to fully unlock the potential of blockchain entrepreneurship.
